I posted this on TT as well, but thought I might get a more local answer from SWOR.COM
Is it possible to replace the left side crank bearing in a 1999 RM 125 without splitting the cases? I think I know the answer, but maybe I am wrong.
My kids RM was running a little rough, so I started to investigate, put in new top end, checked the play in the crank and felt none. Went to check the timing and the freaking output shaft that holds the flywheel on has about 1/4" play all around.
I am assuming that the bearing is gone, but why did I not feel it when I pushed and pulled on the crank when doing the top end? There has been something wrong with this bike for some time, I guess this is it. I hope this is the fix to all the problems with "odd" issues last year.
I was thinking of replacing all bearings/seals and maybe the crank while I am in there. Does anyone know of a place in Canada that sells these parts a little cheaper?
Thanks guys/gals(?)

Yeah your going to need to split the cases. If one side is gone, the other is not far behind it. Your best to pull the crank and rebuild it before something bad happens. Sorry, I know its not what you wanted to hear but that's the situation in my eyes.

Well F**T, I need a crank.
Anyone want to guess how much an OEM crank is for a 1999RM 125?????
$800 BIG ONES, I am looking at other alternatives, but I have not found one yet. I might be able to get it from the US for ~400 and I am going to Dallas in a few weeks, so I will pick it up then.
This sucks. Make sure you keep up on your maint. guys/Gals!!
If anyone on here can source a cheaper one for me that would be awesome. I just checked for grins on how much the KX 125 crank is, it's like $170 US WTH!!

Going to call them first thing in the AM, they do not have it listed on their web site though.
I just checked, I can get it for 550 cnd shipped to my door from the US. I will get some GST on that as well, but it still beats 800.

Call Steve at 679 BIKE - I'm sure he can get an exchange rebuild for less than that. Worth a call.

LOL, I guess this post is a little old, but thanks for the tips non the less.
I ended up going OEM from the states, still paid like $300 for a complete crank, but way less than the $800 from my local dealer.
The bike runs like a champ now and I will make sure I keep the bearings and bottom end serviced more often than I did. The bike is also for sale if someone is looking for a nice bike!!!
